I think this is correct about notification settings. If the user clicks on the indicator from the notification, the indicator will disappear. see the notifications on UNA- the blue (clicked indicator) only appears after you have CLICKED on a particular notification. The new notifications pop up in gray. In my site, new notifications don't pop up in gray.
