I think in your case it shouldn't be much difference.
I've done this test before. I'll do it again sometime soon when I get some bandwidth... to provide some clear data.

Your team already have an operator login. Were you asking for shell as well? Or just a sql dump? For the purpose of testing, I can build a new server and migrate a copy of the dump over there - so its is totally isolated if that is helpful.
