Date field

I spoke with a friend, a girl, who tried to register an account to test the system as a beginner. She couldn’t enter her date of birth correctly in the given field. We need to find a simpler solution. Users often get confused when inputting their date of birth, whether on mobile or desktop. She was unable to complete the profile.

The issue is that she attempted to type the date directly into the field, rather than selecting it from the calendar. On a computer, it’s particularly challenging to change the year. With the current setup, once the user tries to input the date, the field becomes locked. If the calendar is the only method of input, the field should be entirely covered by the calendar to prevent confusion. Users aren't programmers—they expect fields to be editable and instinctively try to type in them.

For someone with limited experience, this becomes unnecessarily difficult, and this likely applies to 90% of users.

After more than 20 years of programming, is this really the best "date field" solution Boonex can offer?
