Navigating Updates and Migrations in UNA 14.0.0 It is just a beta version that creates confusion through its name.

While exploring my test site for UNA, I was surprised to see the update button appearing despite my current version being 13.1.0, which was installed on 6 April 2025. The notification stated that UNA 14.0.0 is available for update in the beta channel.

This raised an important question: Why can’t I update from version 13.1.0 to 14.0.0? My experience with migrating from earlier versions of Dolphin (I used version 7.4.2) up to 13.1.0 has been quite challenging, as higher versions cannot be migrated seamlessly. I’ve attempted various versions during the migration process, but unfortunately, it only resulted in a partial transfer of data. Given this context, I find myself wondering which version I should use to recover my site effectively from Dolphin.

Upon further investigation, I discovered that if migrating from version 13.1.0 to 14.0.0 is not possible yet, it indicates that the latter may not be a stable release. In fact, it seems that 14.0.0 is yet another beta release. This conclusion is reinforced by the update channel settings; even after setting it to beta, I continue to receive prompts for updating to 14.0.0. Conversely, when I switch the channel back to stable, the update button disappears entirely. Therefore, version 14.0.0 creates confusion, as its name suggests it is a stable version, while in reality, it is just a renamed beta version for now indicating that it does not have a stable update channel. This version still does not have a migration patch from 13.1.0 to 14.0.0 so we will have to wait for a stable migration.

Hence, my decision to stick with version 13.1.0 was driven by the fact that it remains the only stable version encompassing the latest updates for the migration module from Dolphin 7.4.2. Navigating these updates and migrations can be quite complex, so having a stable foundation is crucial for a successful transition.

If I am looking to migrate from version 7.4.2, what would be the best solution? Which version of UNA should I consider using?

If anyone has successfully migrated from dolphin 7.4.2 to UNA, please give me a tip.
