I too would like to assign my members some kind of badge. Has this been figured out?

  Please specify the places where the members should have visible badges if the Info block with permissions icon isn't a enough variant for you.

  I thought it would be nice to have a small badge next to the name of the user so as they entered in discussion, you would know they were an admin or moderator.

  Well, it will require to change the code to call a method serviceProfileMembership from modules/base/profile/classes/BxBaseModProfileModule.php file. But this block seems will be too large for your place and need also to review getProfileMembership method from template/scripts/BxBaseAcl.php file.
