Okay, but I wonder who'll be there to explain to the users of the site that notifications are sent via email. Could you consider doing both email and on-site notifications on the next update?
Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure why THESE notifications go to the spam folder, but every other notification unrelated to the Ad module doesn't.

You can try to change the email from spam to not spam on your email provider. You can also do what Baloo did here https://una.io/page/view-discussion?id=4226
