Comment to Speed up site
-
Hi James Prince ,
Try the following;
- Enable all Cache options.
- Keep blocks to a minimum on a single page. The more blocks you have can increase loading time.
- Change the number of items shown in blocks. I have most set to 8, anything above this tends to slow loading of the page a lot.
- Please do not get the "Items on page" with "items per page" options. You can keep the "Items per page" options at a high level I have mine set on our websites at 24.
- I do not have feed cache or item cache enabled as I want items to be pulled at the time of page loading, as I have noticed with it enabled it takes too long for items to be refreshed and thumbnails for videos etc. With the above done, I have got the home page loading within 1-3 seconds. But if you do want the feed cache and item cache on then set lifetime at 86400 this is one day.
Here are some examples of websites we own or manage, and as you can see they load in a nice timely manner.

We also use UNA for staff portals for our staff but I can not give you access to these as they are private and our UNA installs will not show anything until I have set up accounts as you can not register in the staff portals.
If these do not work then you may need to look at your server and or possibly your network the server is on. There are lots of tools on google to test your Hosts network speeds and test to check the performance of your server it's self.
