I am using 12.1 stable with 15K members on a very active platform for doctors, no issues at all.
As we have some customizations we are planning for this this summer to upgrade to 14 stable.

I still have a bit of work left to update the migration script, but I'll manage to complete it. There are still some fields that aren't migrating correctly, but I’ll be able to fix that as well, and my site will work properly too.
