Comment to 'Account and Profile Activation - Bug'
  • Alex T⚜️ Why would a Profile activation email confirmation be sent if no Profile has been created yet?  Again, my settings do not create a profile automatically.  In fact, nothing forces the Account to create a Profile even when logging onto the site.  Once an account is created, the only email notification that should be sent is the email verification notification.  That's the point of this post.

Account is profile too, but it's default system profile. If you turn off the following setting:
"Enable account activation letter" in Studio > Settings > Account
And turn on the following setting:
"Enable profile activation letter" in Studio > Persons|Orgs
Then it should work as you described and this is default behaviour.

    • Just to confirm that I understood this correctly; with "Enable account activation letter"  Unchecked and "Enable profile activation letter" Checked, the user will only receive two emails:

      1. 'Confirm your Email, please [Action Required]'

User clicks/confirms Email, and then receives second email:

      2. 'Profile activated.' (This should instead say 'Account activated', since no Profile has been created yet).

In general, this Account/Profile thing is confusing. Account is Account and Profile is Profile. The user creates and confirms one account, and then creates profiles.

Ok, so what needs to happen, IMHO, is to have a Master Account that manages the profiles.  As of now, there isn't a page where the master account is clearly accessible and referenced.  The notification emails need to represent what is being created.  If an account is created, send a notification specifying that, which means that a change is necessary to make sense of this.

Why would we have the same notification being used for 2 completely different activities - very misleading.

Thanks for responding Alex. - Jethro

Thank you for the feedback, we'll hide one of these options to not confuse anyone:
