Hi @banister ,
Yes we are using it for 3-4 years.
There is no news that it the free version will be ended on jitsi side.
Thinking about a videoconference system's unpredictable enourmous resource needs, for UNA cloud I guess that it will be as a paid service and will go through custom installations for each client.
Even many companies who are sensitive about privacy are using Jitsi self hosted version.
RAM is not a big problem for this, but CPU power, for 100 participants a server with:
- 32 GB RAM
- 12 reserved vCPU
will be secure enough. The CPU need is going up with a logarithmic scale as participants increase.
Therefore with current technology even if you reserve 32vCPUs is it not possible to host more then 150-200 participants in a single installation. You will need clustering for more (also zoom google meet etc. doing the same). We were able to reach to 800-1000 participants with clustering.
For 25 participants a 4 vCPU 8 GB server will be enough. You may observe the CPU usage and increase vCPU numbers if needed.
Being carefull about closing the cameras and microphones while not neccessary will benefit a lot.
There are options to start the participant with cameras mics off etc.
installation is very easy if you have a little bit linux skills.
For clustering there are different options with cons and pros please have a look at my comments for previous posts:
