Let me see if I understand. So it appears that auto update is on by default since someone asked how to turn it off so I assume she didn't turn it on.  An upgrade is pushed out automatically and that caused upgrade issues including some serious ones; but you still recommend someone upgrading?  Or do you recommend a new install but not upgrading?  It seems to me that this auto updating is always a catastrophe in waiting.
