This not true, Embed.ly is not free. I even emailed them. It is either $10/M for cards with no API or $99/M for their API. So to even get an API  code for your site you would have to pay $99/*month.  I figured why not email to see if they had other options for start ups and here is my answer from their Support: "Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately we no longer have the free plan, we have Cards and then the full API. Cards will allow you to embed all the same media, but it won't allow much for customization or any info like extract would give you.

I'm happy to pop into your account and add a couple months free (it's a manual process so you may need to email again to remind me) if that helps buy some time before you're up and running."
