I read that thread but the author was speaking of adding gifs as button icons, backgrounds and covers, which would be great. And the solution put forth was to add a Giphy API key into the Messenger mod, which I am not using. 

Basically, I just want members to be able to upload a gif to a post (timeline, discussion, conversation, comment, reply, etc.) and it play.
