I'm seeing a lot of DMCA discussions on my YouTube suggestions page mostly because of Naughty Dog & Sony, Suzy Lu and a few others in the news right now. I did a UNA search on DMCA hopefully to find some best practice ideas but alas, I found none.

Any best practice notes to share regarding minimizing DMCA related issues?  Better to be proactive than reactive.

    • i am not a lawyer.  maybe someone here is.
i took the DMCA notice that the-eye.eu uses on their internet archive site, and adapted that for my bitdrop.org site.
as far as this goes, i dont think its much of an issue unless you are selling access to that content, other than that, the internet is aware that things spread like wild pollen, and the issue is when you try to make money off someones content, not when its simply copied in small amounts, or embedded.
here's the dmca that I ended up writing for my own site:

      • The DMCA is for the US.  You have to register with the copyright office and post a contact person on your website.  There are agencies you can hire to manage this for you.
