I can't find any info on this.
I want yo buy the Rocketchat module, but I have a few questions. It says that users can connect with their UNA accounts; will this work for hosted and cloud versions of Rocketchat? Will it work for their provided mobile app as well, or just with the chat embedded? Thanks!

    • I looked at this and the information is very limited.  I think you have to download RocketChat and install it on your server following the instructions on the RocketChat website.  RocketChat is a one to one setup; one website, one copy of RocketChat.  Two websites, two copies of RocketChat.

      • Hmm yeah. I get that, but what about cloud hosting, as in hosting the chat on their server and just embedding the frame on UNA. Will users still be able to login using their UNA script account?
I wish developers would put more emphasis on the descriptions of the apps. Some of them I don't even know what they do, like Photos, for example. I am wondering it may be an enhanced pictures gallery, but the description is blank. And the same goes for many of the other apps.

        • Thanks for your response. And, sorry for your frustrations. I did read that post!

          • So the one here at UNA connect, even thought at Rokect Chat it only gives you the Dolphin option. It will connect using that option. However, It doesn't let users login when they connect from the RC mobile app, neither will it pull down the users profile pictures.

In the oAuth where you see the Dolphin, scroll down and you should see the UNA section.

Hmmm...it begging with Dolphin and end with Wordpress. I can't see UNA on the list!

                • Rocket.Chat is already preinstalled on UNA Cloud, you just need to configure it to be able to login with UNA accounts. If you have own hosting then you will need server root access to be able to perform Rocket.Chat installation and then the configuration is the same like in UNA cloud.

                  • Hi, I'm hosting UNA on my own server. No UNA cloud.

                    • the biggest problem is the intructions given on the wiki for rocket chat is using a severely outdated version of rocketchat server...the newer/newest versions of rocketchat from the official site do not have the option for oauth to una, only Dolphin.  not sure if the admins here can contact the rocketchat poeple to add una to the list of options or not.

                      • This is interesting.

I tried setting up Rocket Chat and messed something up in the settings and now it's basically locked me out 100%, I have zero ability to change anything and (using Una Hosted) I tried to uninstall and reinstall, and it made no change.

Tim Burleigh have you tried the RocketChat mobile app? Your setup seemed to work really well when I was playing on it.

                        • I had trouble with it and laid it aside until I can take the time to work with it more. I have it disabled for now. Michael Newton may be able to help you. He seems to know a lot about it.

                          • Rocket Chat has a lot of potential. I have made similar posts about profile pics not automatically showing, no way to get rid of side menus, no camera support for Android or iphones...the list continues. It a dead app until they figure something out or update it. To be honest it shouldn't be in the UNA market as it does not support mobile phones. Either UNA developers have to use the coding to develop something for UNA or put a warning sign on it etc..it hasn't been updated in the market since 2018. My advice is to not use it right now and hopefully UNA can find an alternative for group chat/live stream chat. Rocket Chats code is open source so UNA really should take a look on how to fix those problems.

                            • I am hoping the updates coming to ‘Messenger’ will make be adequate to meet our needs.

I do think Alex T⚜️ maybe able to help you get in the backend. Did you remove the email login from the index page of your chat James Cherry ?

That's why I went with a "snapshot" install for the chat. I do say that the support is totally gone for the product though.

                                  • Fuiche you can use the latest Rocket.Chat version and use Custom OAuth in Ricket.Chat to allow users to login to Rocket.Chat using their UNA account:

                                    https://una.io/cmts.php?sys=bx_forum&id=3923&cmt_id=20711

When you reinstall Rocket.Chat, you need to drop old database, or use new one, then you will be able to use Chat from the scratch. If you are using these instructions to install Chat then you need to modify the following line to run Chat on new Database:

                                      export MONGO_URL=mongodb://localhost:27017/rocketchat_new

Which will leave the old database on the server.  Of course you need shell access to run the mongo shell; which you don't get with the critically limited Cloud hosting; [edited by AlexT].  If as the OP said, using UNA hosting then you need to contact Boonex to fix the problem since you can edit any files as outlined in this solution.

                                        • Yes, old database will still be on the server, I've outlined the easiest way to run Rocket.Chat from the scratch, the more proper way would be to run mongo shell then drop old database, but it will require some more knowledge and actions.
