Naturally any # tagged word in the post is automatically created or added to channels. I believe this should work same way if you Create additional text field.

But feel free to create and test before you conclude it's impossible. A lot are possible on UNA.

It's very possible to search posts through channels using the # tags. I don't really think you need another module to achieve what you want. I think.
