My understanding of channels is it operates like Twitter hashtags. I know that whoever creates the channel controls it but that seems counterproductive. Following Twitter model, no one "owns" any tags. If I post something on twitter with the hashtags #flipflappattywhack a "channel" is created for that new word. Anyone can see it. If someone searches that hashtag my post would be the first. Anyone adding that hashtag to their tweets on twitter would show up in that channel.

If you want the creator to be able to control things I suggest focusing on the Spaces Module. This has proven to be very powerful and it isn't automatically created. Someone creates it and can administer it. So if I created a "FlipFlipPattyWhack" space or group then I could control the content.

That's my experience and opinion anyways.
