We try to simplify it is much as we can, so we think that it add unnecessary complexity. Even if password was typed incorrectly user can use forgot password feature to reset it.
Not sure that asking for a password is easier than having certainty at the start. In the idea of what otherperson suggests, maybe then just add a checkbox "show password"?
