Comment to 'My opinion on Rc10 and more'
  • Thank you for your feedback, everyone!

First of all, I want to make it clear that the RC11 will be a "fixes-only" release. And then, everything that we may need to release until the final V9 will also be fixes-only. It may require quick turnaround (2-3 weeks between updates).

As for why we've been adding so many new things lately... The reasoning is almost entirely based on financing our development. As a bootstrapped company we don't rely on any external investment and obviously, we haven't yet accumulated enough subscribers to fund ongoing development, testing and support costs. So, we have to make up by taking on custom implementation projects, which often require special features. Then we have to do that asap and include into the version anything that makes sense as a core feature. In a way, it's a matter of filling the gaps to execute some of the live-site projects.

Now we have a relatively complete set of core functionality in place, which we will be able to polish and test-out quickly. We also decided to hold off from any significant feature-updates ordered by clients for a while, as much as possible anyway.

As for the new JOT - we've isolated that from the core version, and it's developed by Alexey only at this stage to ensure we're not taking away from the main version updates. It is a crucial component needed for making native apps work fast (web-view just doesn't feel fast enough unless it works via something like ReactJS).
