choosing a default skin for template
Is there a way to make a specific template skin (e.g., dark) the default one for all users?

I don't know about skin. You can set the default template in Studio -> Designer but if the default skin (Dark or Light in Protean Template) can be set .... well I don't know that....

In the settings of the default template (it is set as default like @Mayki said in the Designer app) you may set the default mix.

@LeonidS Sorry, I couldn't figure out where you change the mix in designer. See attached image. I can select artificer but not mix!

It is the first step to setup the default template. Then you need to set the default skin in the template directly. But this way works only for Protean, Decorous and Lucid. Artificer doesn't have mixes.
