Gist Time In theory, you could use both Free and Paid versions of UNA on any type of hosting, from shared, VPS or Dedicated. It depends on a lot of factors.
How many apps you have installed.
What each individual app requires from the server and UNA its self as the core software. This is RAM and CPU resources.
How many blocks you have on a page.
How many items your blocks are pulling. I.E images and videos.
How much traffic comes to your site and how many active users are on.
But I'll warn you!
If you are planning to use either on Shared hosting even if it is with TMD or another host. Most host will suspend, terminate or tell you your account has high loads. Any of the top factors can trigger your host's security if your website is using too many resources and causing a high load. This normally comes under server abuse.
You will need to read TMD's Terms Etc...
You can sometimes get a decent server for the price of a high end hosting package. I would say that is your best bet. We have some Cloud Comput coming out soon starting from £5 month for 25GB or 80GB for £20 and they could handle a small-scaled community.
