Configuration changes made in Studio are stored in the database and won’t be lost during updates. If you modified the code and force-update modules (automatic update will fail if modules are modified), then your changes may be lost. The only way to update modified modules is to download newer versions in our repository in github and merge changes manually.
Thank you for helping! As I have some code changes done is it possible to pull out a new module eg( reactions) in UNA 10.1 to merge with my current UNA 9.0?
May I know if there are any guide or steps to install UNA 10.1 on top of the existing UNA 9.0 on my desktop while keeping my existing configurations intact?

Reactions is a system feature, not a module. It’s applied in multiple modules.
