They did say they would consider it if the time was there, and it ended up not happening.

I'd imagine that it's a fairly big one. It would make sense for them to take it on, but if they can't do it perhaps another developer might. I would love to see a full scale UNA Advertising solution which could target ads based on location, age, sex & interests as well as push ads into the timeline feeds as posts. But this is obviously a big task, no doubt in time it will happen, but it's not a priority for UNA Team right now, so if someone really wants it, they would have to be sponsor the project as a custom development.
