Best Digital Ocean Hosting

We need to move from UNA hosting to our own to improve response. Can someone recommend the best Digital Ocean hosting product for a video community? We looked at their offerings Droplets, App and Kubernetes.

        • You must have resolved this issue by now. Which method of installation worked the best for UNA at Digital Ocean?Do you host other apps or sites on this same server?

          Servers are getting faster and cheaper - but the price of a control panel can exceed other costs.

          • We went with NGINX, no Control Panel. All access outside of Studio is done via SFTP or SSH. We started with a General Purpose CPU as we were doing early deployment and development. We upgraded to Premium CPU Optimized recently as we near our beta release in October. We deployed our Jitsi server on a second droplet that was Premium Memory-Optimized and established a separate Spaces for remote storage of Jitsi recordings which is a cheaper cost to store content than AWS or others.

              An alternative for those that may be interested... I've created a self-install "package" that does a 12.0 Una install on Blueonyx. Point and click and clean install. This is where some of my earlier bug reports came from. Things that need upstream fixes, but I've provided patch details for all of the bugs.

              One topic I did not dig into too deeply was PHP version compatibility. Una is not PHP 8.4 ready currently. 8.3 is about the latest I'd suggest using in production. But it is certainly nice to be able to switch PHP versions in a platform like this for testing and rapid deployment.

              • Hetzner dedicated servers or other hosting options are one of the best in the world.

                • Right Hetzner is great, I have been using Hetzner for about 15 years.

                  • Their pricing adds a VAT tax. What is this equal to?

                    • it changes, I guess if you are from EU it is like 18% or 20%, I bought it from Turkiye so they applied no VAT just bare price. You can see if the pricing is with or without VAT before checkout.
