Does Mass Mailer needs SMTP and can it be given access to the profiles as well apart from Admin ?

Does Mass Mailer needs SMTP to send the emails to the users ? Can the mass mailer be given access to the regular users as well restricting them to send a single post to their subscribers ? Can anyone help me customize the existing Mass Mailer to the above use case?

    • Yes, it needs SMTP or preferably a transactional email provider (sending from your own server will quickly result in all email routing to spam folders). Giving massmailer to all users is technically possible but I can’t imagine how it can be feasible. It allows emailing everyone on the site, so it’s a feature you want to restrict to admins only.

      • Yes. All is said. Plus my 2 cents:

        • Massmailer is atm an admin module, not a public one. As Andrey mentioded above
        • Going with UNA frame so SMTP is always the best solution to have control of your own mails.
        • MASS MAILER is not Mail Chimp. Right now mass mailer is best for admins and mods and that is perfect to avoid any conflicts.
        • To Mass Mail to your users of your UNA frame/site there are many other ways.... like mail chimp
