Are you self-hosted or hosted with UNA?
I am self-hosted on a Linux VPS (Ubuntu 18.04 LTS) and found this installation from the Rocket Chat documentation to be incredibly easy and relatively config free
I don't recall specific key placement for Rocket Chat but all my certs are handled through the Electronic Frontier Foundations Certbot so they are stored in:
/etc/letsencrypt/live/[domain name]

Hello Hodor Hodor !
All main info about the connection with Chat server you may find in the "Information" tab of the RocketChat app. It contains also the link to the key generator area of OAuth2 server app.

Hi Mosi76 , one small follow up, could you please tell me where is the chat administration area where i'm supposed to add the generated keys to?

Has anyone actually gotten rocket chat to work properly? I am having a lot of trouble with this.
-
-
Well, I’m glad you have it figured out. I have access to the back end you showed but just no chat that a member can join. It would help if their instructions somewhere from start to finish how to get it set up.
-
I've learned by trial and error over a few years!
A lot of reading on the backend and the design was not overnight results either.
This version as I've mentioned is the "snap" install, not the version supplied by Alex. I can and have used that version for many years but last year changed to this version for my reasons.
It is a simple procedure, to be honest, and I think that is why the documentation is vague.
I'm able to help some members if the install is fresh, no matter what flavor you go with.
-
So this is not rocket chat?
-
Snap "install."
-
I suppose you cannot install this without access control panel. Am I correct? I am on UNA Hosting.
-
You said you were able to help. That would be appreciated if you can.
-
I do have a question. Can members set up their own chat rooms or do we have create rooms to be available for the members?
-

I can help in a few hours. We'll go private messenger for that.
-

That's an option you can decide.
-

I'll need SSH access, the control panel to the server, and the site admin access.
-
Thanks
-
I do not have access to control panel. I am on UNA Cloud hosting.

I've fixed your login. You should be able to use the popup to login now. Let me know how it's working for you.
-
Thanks. Just now seeing this. I’ve been working out in the yard getting ready for company next week. I will take a look shortly.
-
Will members have to login to chat before can I can invite them to a private room or any room? I tried to invite some admin into a admin room but they do not show to be available.

Tim Burleigh It prompted a login:
My email/password for the site did not work, but I clicked the little door and it logged me in that way:
-
Thanks, I have to figure out how to remove the login now. Looking for it now.

I've done that for you and explained where it is via messenger.
Hodor Hodor have your resolved your issues?
-

It's possible to use Dolphin instructions to configure Rocket.Chat and UNA connection, instructions for UNA are pretty the same:

I found this discussion because I am trying to customize the look and layout of Rocketchat. Also how to I get it to video chat using a mobile phones camera? The settings seem to be defaulted on webcam which isn't an option for mobile phones. I want it to be able to turn on Android and iPhones cameras and microphones. Also would like to take out some uneccisary buttons that were meant for keyboard and PC. Anyone know exactly where I can do this in studio?

I was able to get Rocketchat up and running on my server, but I cannot get the ssl portion working or get it to connect to my UNA site....I have been fighting this or over a year now, it is very frustrating

I am using Rocketchat 2.3.2 which sadly does not have una connect within it. I could create a custom oauth but have no idea how to fill out most of the fields.....but one thing at a time....I need to be able to open chat.mysite.com and it open mysite.com:3000 or https purposes

Yes, you can use latest Rocket.Chat and use Custom OAuth, steps are the following:
1.
2.
3.
4. Activate 'Merge Users' setting

Thank you very much, It is now working perfectly, you are awesome

Now I have another question. For some reason the avatars are not being used. Like when an UNA user logs in the avatar is the default. Also when editing profile their una avatar shows up as suggested, but when it is selected and saved, RC says avatar saved successfully but it reverts back to default. Not sure if it is a question for here....I am also asking on the Rocketchat forum

It looks like it's Rocket.Chat problem, please let me know if it isn't

Sorry it took too long to reply to this post...I found out through some research that it was actually a permissions issue on the server side of things.
-
you are on a vps and you can install rocketchat server on it? can you send me in private the hoster that you use?
-
interesting. can this be bridged to for use with UnrealIRCD 5 , with rocket perhaps sessioning the tokenize from user to itself, but not waiting for connect response, to allow IRCd to be used with alternative configuration instead??? I've got a rock solid IRC server built, I'd rather use that...

It's better to ask about it in Rocket.Chat community, they know it better
-
cool ! thank you Alex.

In Rocket.Chat custom oauth that I created it states:
When setting up your OAuth Provider, you'll have to inform a Callback URL. Use
https://chat-domain.tld/_oauth/custom_outh_name
Is this put in the oauth2 server; or where?
I am getting unexpected end of json input.

I am trying to set up the custom OAuth in Rocketchat and it all goes well until - uh oh - the Client ID and Client Secret are non-editable fields.

Hello Mike R !
Did you open the [your chat URL]/admin/OAuth page? There should be the option UNA and the button "expand". Both fields are editable there.

No - the UNA OAuth connection was not there so I had to manually add one. I did that, but as I said the ID and secret have pre-filled values that are un editable. This means I can't replace them with the key and Secret generated by the OAuth app in my UNA installation.
