What exactly is connected with multisite?

What is connected from the subsites to the main site across the multisites? Profiles, notifications, content... Can you make an article about it explaining what it does and how it works?

Does it increase database load, are there any bottlenecks that I should be aware of or single points of failure?

What is the recommended minimum hardware for each subsite?

Do they all need to be on the same server as the main site?

Can I charge for memberships to the subsites from the main site?

If people join a subsite, are they connected to every subsite in the network or only that subsite and the main site?

    • Multi-site system is currently in early testing stage. We are not yet ready to announce and document it. The idea is to run multi-domain network of communities with basic customisation option for each, all running under single UNA installation.

      • Just what I have been looking for. It is getting closer to blockchain

        • Blockchain-like ideas will mostly manifest in federated networking implementations. Thanks to ActivityPUB support we will now see the raise of protocols like Matrix and perhaps BlueSky. Once there's a clear standard we will most definitely implement it in UNA.
