A BRAIN TEASER - I have created Spaces for each geographic region of Canada and wish to allow Members to create spaces somewhere within that framework. i.e. - I want all new Spaces created by members to be within one of the Spaces already in action (which would then become the Parent Space to the newly created one). How can I achieve this?

I guess my question is how do I make it mandatory in the add space and edit space forms to choose a parent space?
I think it's studio > forms > fields > select module > select display > click pencil
Hi Will. The mandatory toggle isn't on the form field (parent spaces) that I need like it is on other fields

As the Parent space is custom field you can't set it as Mandatory. But you may set there the default value (your default Space).

It should be the value of the id field from the `bx_spaces_data` table of the record with your "default space".

Aahhh. Ok, the latest parent space in your site now is "First Nations | Canada" with id=358. Let me know if you need to another one.
Hi @LeonidS Thanks for taking the time to help me. So I can track the id of any space in the address bar. - Nevertheless, does this achieve the result? I would like members to be forced to choose to create within any parent space they choose between ID=2 which is Canada space all the way up to id=358 . I will just put a note in the spaces add and edit pages telling people to add a parent space. I just hoped I could force the issue.with a little red star! Thank You.
Yes, in UNA <13 versions you may see the id of space in the URL. For 13 it will be replaced with URI title.
cool!!!! I certainly want that to be the way it is - are you doing that for profiles too?
That is a very big change and may affect our previous works those relied on the id parameter.
I hope it will be optional to select how to structure the URLs with a keep the old version option?

I think subjecting the newly created Spaces to Admin approval will be a good way to manage. Useful also in some other ways like preventing duplication.
