Reposting content - Repost keeps original visibility settings

I posted a video and chose a group in visibility settings. Then I reposted that content and chose Friends in the repost visibility settings. When I edit the reposted video, I see the original visibility setting, it is the group I chose in my original post. Although, it seems that the repost is visible for my Friends, as it should. Can you test that please, dear @LeonidS ?

    • Not sure what is the issue... let's clarify. The reposted content is referenced not duplicated - so the original content is not affected by a repost. This is the intended behaviour which effectively preserves original content privacy settings. Do you expect a different behaviour or am I missing something?

      • Well, I didn't mention that I noticed that behaviour on our live server that still runs framework version 13.0.0-RC4.

The first screenshot shows the original post of an embedded video. Visibility set to a group the user is member of.

        image_transcoder.php?o=sys_images_editor&h=1680&dpx=1&t=1699920464

The user choses to repost the content and has then the option to edit the reposted content.

        image_transcoder.php?o=sys_images_editor&h=1681&dpx=1&t=1699920641

The user changes the visibility setting from the group to his friends. After saving the repost, friends will see the repost in their timeline feed. But the reposted content keeps the visibility setting of the original post.

I tried to reproduce it on our testserver which is running the latest UNA framework version. I couldn't reproduce it anymore. Maybe that issue has already been solved by the devs. When I tried it, I was able to change the visibility settings from the group to friends, too. But in that case the post disappeared from the group's timeline and also the timeline card changed from 'posted a video in group...' to 'posted a video'.

Anyway, I'll change this to 'solved'.

        • @Andrey, if I repost content that was originally posted in a group, then the reposted content should be visible to whom? The group, my friends or the public?

          • That's one of the most problematic issues with content privacy. If you repost content that your viewers (like your followers or friends) shouldn't be able to see, because, say, it's originally posted to a private context, then the content should still remain private and therefore not visible to them, unless some of them are indeed members of that context.

            • I see the challenge, but whose gonna see a reposted content, originally posted in a group? I suppose that its friends of the reposter, right?
